What is Autism?
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and makes sense of the world.
It also affects how individuals make sense of the world around them. Autism affects 1 in 100 of the UK population and in West Berkshire alone, there are approximately 1750 people with diagnosed or undiagnosed, autism.
The NAS, West Berkshire Branch aims to support autistic children and adults, including Asperger syndrome, and their families.
Our services include three youth clubs: Spectrum (aged 10-13), Oasis (ages 13-18) and Cosmos (aged 18+). We also offer professional speaker evenings, quarterly newsletters and coffee mornings.
In addition, we also support a social group, Table 38 for adults aged 25+. The group usually meet on the last Tuesday of the month.
